The history of the Chiltington Group

Chiltington was formed by Ivor Kiverstein in London in 1982.

Throughout its history, Chiltington has evolved and developed products and services based on the needs of its clients thereby adding value for its clients management operations. The primary consideration remains the provision of solutions. Recognising that Insurance is a global business, Chiltington's management has sought to build a truly international organisation to better meet the clients needs.

We have a well-established and growing organisation with international offices in various locations:

1982  Chiltington International Ltd. in London (UK)

1988  Chiltington International Inc. in Orlando, Florida (USA)

1990  Chiltington International GmbH in Rellingen near Hamburg (Germany)

1992  Chiltington International Inc. in New Jersey (USA)

1993  Representative Office in Sydney (Australia)

1999  Chiltington Internaçional S.A. in Buenos Aires (Argentina)

2005  Chiltington Internaçional S.L., Madrid (Spain)

2007  Representative Offices in Mexico City (Mexico) and Bogota (Columbia)

In June 2002, Ivor Kiverstein’s retirement heralded the 100% sale of Chiltington and the risk carrier Hamburger Internationale Ruckversicherung (HIR) to the senior management. This ensured the continuation of the Group’s independence and the ability to acquire additional companies in Run Off through our finance holding company HIR. Acquisitions under Chiltington management include:

  • HIR
  • Hassneh Insurance Company (UK) Limited (finalized through Solvent Scheme of Arrangement)
  • Pavant International Re S.A. (formerly PFA Re)
