Having suitable computer systems is an integral part of any successful run-off management operation.
The system we currently utilize for our run-off administration clients is known as the RSG System. Formed in 1984, the Re Systems Group, based in New York provides the insurance and reinsurance industry with a comprehensive insurance and reinsurance package. This system is used to maintain all facets of a particular company’s runoff clients’ assumed and ceded reinsurance books of business. The system maintains all underwriting, accounting, and claims information through the use of various input screens. This system can be used to develop standard reinsurance assumed and ceded premium and claims reports. The system is also very flexible, allowing the user to create their own “ad-hoc” reports, permitting a company to tailor information to their own specific needs. In the medium term, once we fell all the data has been assembled to manage the business, we will assess whether use of this system will be more efficient.
For those assignments where RSG is not appropriate, we have utilized our knowledge of systems and databases and developed a data capture and reporting mechanism to give our client the most efficient, cost effective reporting possible.
In addition to RSG, we also have the knowledge and technical expertise in various other accounting systems that support RSG including, but not limited to the general ledger, investments, accounts payable, premium tax, and state filings (i.e. Peoplesoft, Eagle, etc…).
